Sally: "A motorshow?!?"

Sally: "Would this be a date?"
Patrick: "I'm sorry ..."
Sally: "I'd love to go, Patrick, but ... strictly as your friend!"
Patrick: "What do you mean "friend" exactly?!"
Sally: "I would'nt be your date ... I'd be your friend!"
Patrick: "No, sorry ... still not with you!"

Seit Freitag habe ich auch die dritte Season von "Coupling". Jippie! (Das Zitat ist allerdings aus der zwiten Folge der ersten Staffel.)

In einem der Bücher über die Liebe schlechthin, einem meiner Lieblingsbücher, der "Vita Nova", schreibt Dante über das Gefühl des Verliebtseins:

"Es reden die Gedanken insgesamt
von Liebe, doch verschieden ist ihr Meinen.
Der rät, ich möge ihre Macht verneinen,
und jener spricht von ihrem hohen Amt.

Der bringt mir Süße, die aus Hoffnung stammt;

Schön, oder?!

Meine eigene Dichtkunst hat leider nie auch nur annähernd so weit gereicht. Sie hat die holde Damenwelt zumeist ebenso wenig beeindruckt wie meine Kenntnis schöner Sonette von begnadeteren Schreibern wie Dante, Shakespeare oder anderen. Im Gegenteil: Dichten und Gedichte scheinen antiquiert zu sein und einen eher merkwürdigen Eindruck vom "modernen Mann" zu vermitteln.

Zu den Themen verpasste Chancen und Irreversibilität der Zeit:

"There will come a time when you have a chance to do the right thing." - "I love those moments. I like to wave at them as they pass by."

"Man kann nicht zweimal in den selben Fluss steigen."

"What is it that makes a man a man, a friend of mine once wondered. Is it his origins, the way he comes to life? I don't think so! It's the choices he makes. Not how he starts things, but how he decides to end them."

Mal wieder ein kleines Filmzitat - dieses Mal allerdings (zunächst) ohne die Auflösung, woher es stammt. Na, wer kennt's? ;-)

Book: Give me that! River, you don't fix the Bible.
River: It's broken. It doesn't make sense.
Book: It's not about making sense. It's about believing in seomething. And letting that belief be real enough to change your life. It's about faith. You don't fix faith, River. It fixes you.
